Transcripts of letters, narratives, and official papers, mainly 1580-1610. The trial of the Earl of Essex is prominent in M.b.50. M.b. 52 contains the narrative of Sir Henry Unton's embassage to France, 1591-92. All appear to have been transcribed from mauscripts in the Bodleian for the Earl of Ailsbury.

Frederick of Mömpelgard (d. 1608) became the Duke of Württemberg in 1593. Robert, Earl of Essex (1586-1601) was a favorite of Elizabeth I, Queen of England, and occupied a variety of military posts.
